It's Official! New Album Unfold Out On April 30th

Almost four years after the debut album, Aidan’s Well clearly unfolds its future plans with the notoriously tricky second. The music is still firmly rooted in the singer-songwriter tradition and ‘Veenstra still sings the stars from the sky’ (8weekly). Yet the song material now has a more pop feel, while the approach to production is ‘pure and unsweetened’. All this means that ‘Unfold’ sounds like a true and solid band album. Once again the band has invited special guest musicians, including the regular ‘live’ pop cellist Jurriaan Westerveld. With a four-piece cello orchestra on the title song ‘Unfold’ and mesmerizing sounds from trumpeter Jan Wessels in ‘Don’t say you will’, Aidan’s Well presents a fine album, soaked in autumnal tones.

Debut Album Will Be Released On Continental Europe/v2

Aidan’s Well took all the time it needed for a debut album, and it was definitely worth the wait. Not only has this solo side-project grown to become a tight 4-piece band in just two years’ time; the group were also able to work with the best of the Dutch indie-classical scene (Lunapark, Zapp4-cellist Emile Visser) for this recording. The result is an album that immerses the listener in an atmospheric singer-songwriter universe; a sound that provides a warm experience for fans of the dreamy work of artists like Ray LaMontagne, Patrick Watson or Bell X1.

The songs from frontman Frank Veenstra can perhaps best be described as ‘mood songs’. The release of maxi-single ‘Hey little girl’ was met with praise from the press: “The singer-songwriter has lots of good ideas and is bursting with writing talent (...) Let’s hope that we’ll soon hear more beautiful things from the hand of Veenstra”.

And that’s just what is delivered with this crystal clear production that primarily showcases Veenstra’s clear vocals and Gerritsen’s ‘off the beaten track’ guitar parts. A combination that gives Aidan’s Well’s music an intoxicating effect, whilst always maintaining a sharp edge in terms of sound. This album, with eleven tracks that oscillate between intimate singer-songwriter creations and more poppy songs, dissolves promise and delivers a debut that is exceedingly mature on all fronts.

Originally formed as a solo side-project, Aidan's Well has now matured and grown to become a 4-man strong formation, keen to launch its audience into a richly arranged singer-songwriter universe. Fans of the dreamy sounds of Ray Lamontagne, Patrick Watson and BellX1 will feel right at home with the melancholic melodies from front man Frank Veenstra. Or as critics wrote after the maxi-single 'Hey little girl': "The singer-songwriter has many great ideas

and is bursting with talent (...) Let’s hope that we will soon hear more beautiful creations from Veenstra and that a debut album a la 'O' by Damien Rice will hit the shelves." This debut album will be released on Continental Europe label on March 1st. By way of preparation, Aidan´s Well has performed several try-outs and special projects. These included a one-off collaboration with the Beukorkest (with Gary Lucas and Kyteman); a screening of the video to 'Hey, little girl' in Giel Beelens's clip-

program Afzien (vpro-3voor12) and the band gave a unique performance with the indie-classical ensemble Lunapark, which had previously arranged five of Aidan's Well songs. Some of these tracks with Lunapark, as well as a guest appearance from Zapp4 cellist Emile Visser will grace the debut album. But first and foremost it is a debut, captured in 11 atmospheric songs that carry you away to the poetic and often bittersweet soundscape of Aidan's Well.
